In this set of chapters we meet Chris McCandless' sister Carine, Chris cares alot about his sister, but feels extreme disdain for his parents who he hates because he is the product of a second marriage put together by his father. With this information about his father opinions are no longer sympathetic towards his father, but even more sympathetic toward chris's mother who is now dealing with the loss of her son and a conniving husband.
